Attractions of Plock
Płock is one of the oldest Polish cities with a rich history going back to 11th century, located on a steep Vistula riverbank.
Nowadays it is a capital of Mazovia and the center of Polish oil industry.
Tourists will enjoy many attractions like a Zoological Garden with an impressive collection of poisonous snakes. Worth seeing is the Cathedral Basilica dated back to the 12th century, with a sarcophagus of two Polish rulers - Władysław Herman and his son Bolesław Krzywousty, and a copy of famous Romanesque Płock's Door in a porch. Nearby there is the Diocesan Museum with a unique exhibition of sacral art. The biggest in Poland collection of secession art can be admired in the Mazovian Museum housed in beautiful renovated Art Nouveau tenement-house.
Tourists will find rest in the evergreen forests of Gostynińskie Lake Region close to the town.
